Our History: A Legacy of Spiritual Restoration
The Visitation Daughters of Mary (VDM) were founded with a deep commitment to restoring families through faith, love, and service. Rooted in the charism of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who exemplified humility, compassion, and unwavering devotion to God’s will, we strive to bring the love of Christ to families, especially those facing trials and struggles.
Founding of the Congregation
The Visitation Daughters of Mary were established on August 23, 2020, in response to a growing need for spiritual renewal within families. Inspired by Mary’s visitation to Elizabeth, our foundresses—women of deep faith and vision—recognized the importance of fostering spiritual restoration and offering families the guidance they need to grow in faith.
From the very beginning, our mission was clear: to accompany families through life’s challenges with prayer, counsel, and charitable works. The foundresses envisioned a community that would not only serve but also spiritually nourish families, creating a lasting impact on society through the transformation of the home.
Growth and Expansion
Initially, the Visitation Daughters of Mary focused on small, local communities, providing spiritual retreats and counseling to families in need. As word of the congregation’s healing mission spread, more families sought guidance, leading to the expansion of ministries beyond the founding dioceses.
From our humble beginnings in Katolo, Archdiocese of Kisumu, we have expanded into three additional communities:
- Visitation Daughters of Mary Matasia Community (Ngong)
- Visitation Daughters of Mary Ting’ang’a Community (Kiambu)
- Visitation Daughters of Mary Residence (Karen)
Through the dedication and prayers of our sisters,
the congregation has steadily grown, reaching more families and spreading our
message of love, compassion, and faith. Today, the Visitation Daughters of
Mary serve in multiple dioceses, providing pastoral care and spiritual
renewal to all who seek it.
